Public Theology as Cultural Witness: Christological Contours for “Times That Are A’Changin’”

Churches in Europe are being faced with a transformation that can be described as seismic shift. In order to face the challenge of cultural witness this context, contribution proposes Christologically contoured public theology. This will spelt out four consecutive steps. After brief introduction on paradigm theology, second part tackles question addressees. Is theology directed at church or world? Making use insights German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, argues for going beyond binary and understanding one Christ-reality frame reference witness. The third seeks uncover transformative power Christology by making traditional dogmatic figure munus triplex task witnessing “public Christ” (Michael Welker). final part, three theses sketch implications “times a-changin’.” (1) Public needs religious literacy bilinguality. (2) For witness, diaspora existence missional sisters. (3) is ecumenical, practical, spiritual.
